Difficulty: Easy-ish
CLICK HERE to print my Tardis template cut out
(This template is of my design)

Materials

Template linked above
scissors (sharp ones)
Reposition- able vinyl (blue or white are ideal, you can find this at Hobby Lobby)
Black permanent marker

Steps

1.  Cut out the pieces of the paper Tardis stencil template printout as shown:

There's no need to recut all the repeating shapes. I just did so for a clearer example of how it will look.

2. Use your stencil pieces to trace onto the vinyl with Sharpie. This way saves the most vinyl:

3. Cut out the pieces.
4. Peel the vinyl (it should be easy to peel as shown in the picture) and assemble it onto the surface of your choice; bathroom walls, laptop cases, bookshelves, windows, mailmen- whatever works. Add embellishment with a sharpie.

Nylon Fabric Garland Decoration

Difficulty: easy

You will need:
2.5 yards of your color choice tulle nylon fabric
1.5 yards of yarn
Fabric Scissors

1. Cut the fabric into 2''x7'' strips. It's ok if it's not exact or tidy; it'll only add character.
2. Tie the fabric strips onto the yarn, and push them together. Be sure not to tie them too tightly or it might take you longer than you want. Space each fabric strip so they are not bunched up too tight.
3. Continue until you finish to the end of the yarn.
4. Hang this where desired, however you want.

Tardis Book Cover

For all the Whovians who like to read!

You will need:

A hard back book of your choice
blue felt
chalk
scissors
pins
hot glue
black ribbon
white fabric paint
light blue/ white spray paint
post it notes
card stock or strong fabric
tape
ice tray
one regular paint brush and if possible a fabric paint brush
newspaper

  1. Using chalk, draw a line that extends at least 3.5 inches around the book, and 7 inches from the right side.
  2. Cut out fabric on chalk line.
  3. Mark where the spine will be on your book cover.
  4. Measure the width of the spine of your book.
  5. Where you’ve marked the spine measure the width of your spine and draw a box that will be excess fabric that cannot be used in order for you to slip on your book cover.
  6. Cut out the boxes you’ve drawn.
  7. Once you’ve finished cutting the excess spine fabric, fold the excess fabric on the left. On the top fold of your book cover, there will be excess AGAIN. Only cut the part of the top flap that goes outside the book. Do this to the other side as well.
  8. Fold the flaps over the inside of the cover, and put pins in it (if you liked it then you should’ve put a pin in it!). This is to see if it will work.
  9. Next, spend some time cleaning up the edges. Carefully cut the edges off the tops of all the flaps (about an 1.5 inches) to help reduce bulk.
  10. Use post it notes to do the panelling. Be sure to put tape underneath the post it notes to make sure they don’t pop up. Tape some newspaper above the panelling. Also put a strip of tape down the spine.
  11. Take your project outside and lightly spray paint with a light blue spray paint. If you don’t have spray paint, use some light blue paint. Take off the post it notes, tape, and newspaper once paint is dry.
  12. Using an ice tray and some white fabric paint, paint the bottom of the ice tray for windows. Quickly and firmly stamp the book cover above the panelling. Paint over the windows again if needed.
  13. Hot glue the black ribbon onto the top bit, making sure you don’t go out of the chalk lines. Write the police box texts on the ribbon with white fabric paint.
  14. Using cardstock or strong fabric a rectangular strip about the length of your book. With the same fabric you used for the tardis, cut out two lamp shapes. Paint the white area of the lamp.
  15. Hot glue the the two lamps together back to back with the rectangular strip of cardstock in between.
  16. After the paint dries, Place the book cover on the book, and seal the insides with your sonic screwdriver (or hot glue gun, which ever you please).

Enjoy your book because it’s bigger on the inside!
